Nuspirit began as a dream—one that founder Tanya Woodson Monestel felt called to bring to life. A wife, mother, and intuitive therapist, Tanya relocated from Maryland to Costa Rica in 2013, where she began hosting transformational wellness retreats in Puerto Viejo. Inspired by the profound healing and personal growth of her guests, she created Nuspirit as a sacred space for renewal, connection, and spiritual awakening—designed to meet guests exactly where they are on their journey. Together with her husband, Costa Rican native Bernal Monestel, Tanya has infused every detail with intention, creating a sanctuary where guests can reconnect with themselves, access powerful spiritual tools, and experience deep peace, clarity, and transformation. The name Nuspirit is inspired by “Nu,” the ancient Egyptian symbol of the primordial waters of creation, representing infinite possibility, renewal, and a pathway to a more fulfilled and aligned life.
